Our commitment

Merevale Publishing is committed to making this website accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA.

Scope: This statement applies to merevalecreekfarm.com.

Conformance status: This website is partially compliant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. The non-compliances are listed under Known Limitations below.

Assessment approach: This statement is based on self-evaluation by Merevale Publishing. No external audit has been conducted.

Measures we have taken

  • All pages include a skip to main content link as the first focusable element, visible on keyboard focus.
  • The page language is declared as British English for screen readers.
  • All images have appropriate alt text, or are marked as decorative.
  • All form inputs have associated labels.
  • Interactive elements are accessible by keyboard.
  • The site uses semantic HTML landmarks (header, main, footer, nav).
  • Heading levels follow a logical hierarchy without skipping.
  • Text and interactive elements meet WCAG AA contrast requirements: 4.5:1 for body text and 3:1 for large text and user interface components.
  • Font sizes are set in relative units and respect browser text size preferences.
  • The site contains no auto-playing audio or video.
  • No content flashes more than three times per second.

Known limitations

  • The interactive games (Character Match, Butterfly Catch, Who Am I?) are primarily designed for mouse or touch and do not currently support full keyboard or screen reader navigation. The games are supplementary entertainment; equivalent accessible activities, colouring pages, the ladybird hunt, and Reader's Field Notes, are fully accessible and cover the same creative ground.
  • The farm map is an image. A text alternative listing all eight locations is provided immediately below the map on the Farm Map page.
